Myia Makupson

Myia Makupson was born and raised in Cleveland, OH. Myia is a Licensed Social Worker and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Ohio. Myia is currently a graduate student in the Counselor Education Ph.D. program at the University of Tennessee. Starting the Fall 2022 semester, she begins a position as the Wellness Counselor for the University of Tennessee College of Law.

Prior to attending UT, she served as a therapist at Cleveland Rape Crisis for two years. Her most recent position was as a Diagnostic Assessor at a community health agency. In her previous positions she has counseled clients individually. She is experienced in addressing trauma, adjustment disorder, and anxiety. Myia utilizes various therapeutic interventions including Gestalt, CBT, Mindfulness, and is trained in EMDR. Myia is passionate about providing services and advocating for marginalized and underserved populations.

In her free time Myia enjoys practicing yoga, spending time with loved ones, hiking, traveling, trying new foods, and engaging in service projects with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated.
